Fish fry
Fish fry is a delicious non-vegetarian recipe, made from Bhetki fish fillet. It can be served as snacks or with rice and dal.
Ingredients (to serve 4):
- Bhetki fillets: 4 numbers
- White vinegar: 1 tbs
- Salt: 1 tsp
- Onion paste: 2 tsp
- Ginger paste: ½ tsp
- Garlic paste: ½ tsp
- Egg: 1 No
- Bread crumb: 1 cup
- Oil for frying: 1 cup
Procedure:
- Wash and pat dry the fillets.
- Marinate the fillets with salt, vinegar and onion paste and let it stand for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Take out the marinated fillets, wash of the marinade.
- Now apply ginger and garlic paste in the fillets and let it stand for 10 minutes in refrigerator.
- Take out the fillets, wipe off excess paste.
- Beat the egg in a bowl, add a pinch of salt to the beaten egg.
- Dip fillets in the beaten egg.
- Cover the fillets with bread crumbs.
- Repeat steps (7) and (8) once.
- Pat to smoothen the fillets.
- Refrigerate for at least 5 minutes before frying.
- Add another layer of bread crumb.
- Dust off excess crumb.
- Deep fry the fish fillets till golden brown.
- Serve with salad and dip of your choice.
Cook's tips:
- You may add some 'garam masala' powder to the beaten egg to make it tastier.
- Eat the fries while hot.
- You may keep the ready to fry fillets (till step 11) in the freezer for even two days and fry as and when required.
- Fry the fillets on slow flame, so that the inside gets cooked without burning the outside.
